March 2008

The crazy duo of “Play 180″ re-united, all thanks to Pastamania. It has been months since Dadang and I hosted an event together, till last Tuesday we hosted the annual D&D of Pastamania held in a pub located at Chijmes. It was whole load of fun and I have to say that the pastamanians (its staff) are really energetic and enthusiastic!

The duo and our 招牌动作!
The lady in white is Fiona, our lovely event coordinator.

Gatherings are heart-warming, but this one comes with a tinge of sadness because we gathered to bid farewell to Ian who is going to work in Japan.

Goodbye Ian! (the man in tee with green print)
Eat more sashimi and drink more sakae… …

Woho!!!~ I like colours. Happy colours. I like it cold. *Brrrrrrr* brain-freezing cold.

The most wonderful thing about Japanese desserts is how they blend in taste and texture, like very sweet red bean paste with plain chewy mochi and bitter-sweet green tea ice-cream… Mmmmm yummy!

When you’re feeling sad, get yourself a HAPPY dessert!

I was quite impressed by this “gadget” (yes I’m sua gu). It’s not only good for keeping sakae chilled, it’s good for the white wine too!

Got to be COLD!

It was my first time stepping into the newly-renovated National Museum of Singapore last Sunday. I went to the pub, MUSE that is located in there before though, but checking out this beautiful building and its interesting exhibitions, this was my first experience. Thanks Guoxing for jio-ing me to visit the exhibition – Greek Masterpieces from the Louvre. This exhibition started on 9 Dec 2007, and we were there on its last day, so it was very crowded.

If you haven’t been to the National Museum of Singapore,
you should really go check it out some day.

These statues are actually copies done by the Romanians thousands of years before. The real artefacts were robbed from the Greek by the Romanians, and almost all were melted into bronze mainly for the production of weapons. So what we see today, these statues are actually copies done by Romanians using ceramics, but they still reflect the history, culture and society of ancient Greek.

Interestingly, I learnt that we can observe from one’s tombstone the background e.g. occupation or interests of the deceased, such as a warrior holding on to his sword, or a mother carrying her baby. This set me thinking if I were to “design” my tombstone beforehand, how should I be portrayed? Hmm… Maybe holding on to a microphone? Or gorging on lots of delicacies?! Hahahaa~

One statue that caught my attention was this one.

God of Love Eros with a bow
手持弓箭的爱神厄洛斯

And I like this quote by a great Greek poet, Hesiod (c. 700BCE):

Keep your courage to LOVE. :)

Maybe it’s due to genes. Maybe it’s negative influence. Maybe… …

Whatever it is, we always believe in being your true self (including the ugly side). Ha!

Sisters Madness!

In The PAST:

Min: Ying-jie, are you using pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Ying: I like pencil. But if you want more dramatic effect should use liquid… …

Ying: Hey lao gong, your earrings are so sweet!
Stephy: Hee, cute hor? Got other colours too like white, green… …

And NOW:

Mad: You all haven’t been to her new house huh?
*Shake heads*
Ivy: You know I bought the TV, then I got the fridge & washing machine free leh!
*WOW!*
Ivy: Hehe… no lah, actually it’s Phillip who got many lobangs… …

Stephy: Where’s baby?
Min: At my in-laws’ place.
Ying: Zhiwei leh?
Min: Doing housework. Today Sunday, my “off day”.
*Laughs*
Ying: Haiya, haven’t been shopping leh.
Min: NTUC every Thursday got promotions, sometimes diapers & milk powder can be really cheap… …

It has been 10 good years. From school to BGR issues, entertainment gossips to shopping tips, wedding preparations to upbringing of children… We never run out of conversational topics to share.

Even though it means to turn from Ms to Mrs, I’m glad we are going through this together.

How to live like a tai tai?

Choose a lazy Sunday. Wake up at 12.30pm.

Shower. Dress up. Then, sway your way to town…

Meet fellow tai tai khaki for tea time!!

Chocolate is a happy sin. It makes me fat, but HAPPY…
Happily fat.

No coffee, no tea. Macademia-flavoured steamer with rose petals. Pretty drink.
