February 2008

Teresa is a bubbly gal who has been temping with us. This char bo is really hyper-active and full of silly ideas! I love to eat lunch with her because we both LOVE food and eat darn alot man!!

Last Saturday, after a long’s day work, we decided to let our hair down and sang our lungs out at KTV, singing “goodbye, farewell” to our dearest Teresa mei mei

Teresa, jiayou for your studies!
We’ll never forget “Xie Xie Ni De Ai”~

On Sunday, I stepped into T3 again. I must say I was quite impressed that the MRT station is linked to T3, wah~ so convenient!

Diana and I were there to send Liping off, leaving on a jetplane to Shanghai, back to work. Everytime we say goodbye, we look forward to our next meet up… Hopefully next time in HK. *wink*

You can EAT at T3.
Oh ya, I really like the Azuki Freeze
(red bean in soya milk) from TCC!

You can SHOP at T3.
No, she’s not shoplifting. She’s just choosing v-e-r-y carefully
for a swimming cap that wouldn’t make her head
look like an EGG!

You can TAKE PHOTOS at T3 (and act like a tourist).
Bye Pheng! You’ll be missed.
:)

FINALLY, I’ve completed my two tutorials, one dued on Sunday and one I just submitted at 2350.

I keep telling myself not to “last minute hug Buddha’s leg”, but too caught up with work recently, even worked OT on last Saturday and hosted a company dinner. Gosh I’m so exhausted!

Plus, it’s been a long time since I last worked on assignments, so I took a bl**dy long time to research, analyse and write down my thoughts in words systematically.

Whatever it is, the “first rounds” are OVER! More tutorials to bia

In 1998, this bunch of us came together in NYJC, landing in the same class CT08.

Now in 2008, ten years down the road our friendship continues. It was not easy, when everyone is busy with work and basically with our own lives, but we make an effort to gather for each of our birthdays, during CNY or Christmas. And we never run out of topics to chat about, always making a lot of noise together… Happy noises.

In celebration of our 10 years of precious friendship, we decided to pamper ourselves and planned a 1-night stay in a penthouse suite at Siloso Beach Resort!

tourists.jpg

Taking the train from Vivocity to Sentosa.
First attempt for Diana (left 1st), see how excited she was!

Although we were abit disappointed that the so-called suite is unexpectedly small, but I have to say the private jaccuzi above is pretty cool and nice view from there.

Sometimes, we really need a break~

holiday-mood.jpg

And I was all set in my holiday mood!!

We spent more than half the time of our first day in the jaccuzi, chatting, sun-tanning, relaxing… and “trainer Liu” fed us with “good food”…

feeding-fishes.jpg

“Trainer Liu”: C’mon this is good…
“Fish Dar”: Yum yum~

If you think the recent hype about “scandalous photos” of HK stars is juicy news, check out the cute chicks in water!

six-sentosa.jpg

We thought the sun at noon was “weak”,
but how come we look like “walking chocolates”?
Except “white chocolate” Huihui & “vanilla” Jessie. Hahaa~

Since it’s CNY, of course we must do the heng heng lou hei! “May we be healthy, young, pretty, rich & happy always!! And 友谊万岁…”

Double happiness… We gave Jessie a birthday surprise!

bday-gal.jpg

Jess, we shall all go to Carribean soon! *wink*

Over all these years, one of the things that remained unchange is our GOOD appetite.

gorge.jpg

From tea break to dinner, supper and breakfast.
We got them all covered. Haha!
Special thanks to Dar for the sandwiches, Hui for the yusheng,
Jessie for the apple strudel, Pheng & Sharon for the drinks!

10 years and still going strong.

With or without lover, to me, Valentine’s Day should be filled with beautiful thoughts, sweet acts and lovely memories…

This year, I spent it with a really special friend. A friend whom I’ve known for 10 years, a friend who is close at heart in spite of our distance…

 vday.jpg

Liping & I spent our Valentine’s Day in a kopitiam :)

We checked out the famous claypot rice at Clementi. You have to call up and make orders beforehand, or you’ll have to wait for AT LEAST an hour for your claypot rice to be served! Of course, we must have desserts on such a sweet occasion. I really forgot the block number of the kopitiam where this tang yuan stall can be found. Just remember that Singapore Pool is right beside it. This stall serves tang yuan of four flavours – peanut, black sesame, red bean & yam, and you can have them with peanut soup or almond cream. Mmm… Clementi is a mini food paradise~

Teach u a trick to eat such traditional claypot rice. Take out the chicken from the claypot and place them on the side plate, then add the oil and black soya sauce on the claypot rice and mix thoroughly. In this way, you won’t keep biting the chicken bones when you eat the rice! But don’t forget to add black soya sauce on the chicken too.

Happy Yummalicious Valentine’s Day!!

My craving for fried chicken wings was FINALLY solved at Harry’s bar! Though it serves chicken drumlets instead, but they are fried, just the way I want them to be and yes, they are spicy~

harry-chicken.jpg

Chicken wings go well with an ice cold beer. Woa!!

I have different food cravings now and then. Singapore is a food paradise, but there are times when I miss Hangzhou’s pumpkin with egg yolk, “Guang Ming” aloe vera yogurt, Hong Kong’s dumplings (those with big big prawns inside), smelly beancurd etc. And my new favourite, “Che Zai Mian”. This one I found in a new Crystal Jade outlet @Bugis tastes a little different from the authentic one in Hong Kong. But better than nothing!

Tomorrow is “Ren Ri”, which means it’s everybody’s birthday, and don’t forget to lao yu sheng! Time really flies, almost half the CNY has passed, so quick enjoy the rest of it… Finish gorging the new year goodies – pineapple tarts, ba kwa, kueh bangkit etc. And collect whatever ang baos you have yet to collect from whoever~

I went to bai nian with my colleague Heidi on Sunday, and the whole bunch of us had great fun getting ang bao from our cai shen niang Heidi, followed by karaok-ing session and dinner!

Heidi demonstrates: Giving brings you happiness too.

Our first CNY celebration together!

Not forgetting, my CNY tradition every year. Ta da! Doraemon bedsheets…

“Sea of blue”~

Snow melts. Flowers wither. We grow old.

There are many things in life that cannot withstand the test of time. I’m lucky that there are some things in my life, I can proudly say they have been here with me for a long, long time. And together we work to withstand the test of time.

Friends for more than 10 years.
Usual CNY gathering at my home.

shanghai-love.jpg

My love for William So~

His first musical “Shanghai Blues” was shown in Esplanade theatres on the 8th and 9th of February. For the first attempt, I would say William So put on a very good performance. Though his acting skills were not perfect, but he expressed well as the male leading role, Wen Chong. Natural, not exaggerated yet with confidence. And the power of his voice is unquestionable. Slightly skewed towards the commercialised style of singing, but William’s voice indeed has the charisma to capture the audiences’ attention.

Mindee Ong and Emma Yong played the two female leading roles. I was impressed by Mindee’s acting skills in the local movie “881″, which was such a big hoo ha in the local movie industry. However, her performance in “Shanghai Blues” was a disappointment, somehow I just could not feel for her character as Tu Yun. And her singing was quite… bad. Surprisingly, Emma in spite of her being weaker in Mandarin, I thought she spoke well and injected life to her role as Dan Lei.

In all, “Shanghai Blues” serves as a good encouragement. Hopefully, there will be more quality productions of local Chinese musicals. Jiayou! :)

Liping and I continue to play tourists on the 2nd day of CNY…

raffles-city-spore.jpg

From Shanghai, back to Singapore
Our love for Raffles City follows… Heh.

We had dinner at Raffles Hotel – Seah Street Deli. Famous for its deadly Chocolate Decadence cake, but we were too overwhelmed by the CNY goodies, so no sweets for us please! Erm, just for the time being. Instead we ordered a chicken noodle soup, buffalo wings and fish & chips. Sad to say, the chicken noodle soup looks unappetising and was too salty.

dscf8792.jpg

I wanted some clear soup, but was disappointed~

Well at least its good service compensates for our disappointment, when we feedback to the waiter, he initiated to serve us a mushroom soup instead. Though my craving for clear soup was not satisfied, but I’ve to say the creamy mushroom soup was pretty good. And I liked the fresh buns that came with it!

Actually I wanted fried chicken wings, but there came buffalo wings. Haiz~ another craving not fulfilled. The fish & chips was decent.

Ok enough of food. Next, we proceeded to a chill-out place @Odeon Tower – LOOF.

Check out its al fresco chill-out area too!

Liping and I were thrilled to see the beautiful night scenery up at LOOF, as usual it’s another round of photo-taking for the tourist wannabes!

Appreciate the night beauty of Singapore…

Oh ya, nearly forgot to introduce the third tourist wannabe *drum roll*… Ging Yin!

GONG XI GONG XI!!!

It’s amazing how you get to know some people. They somehow became your friends, some just fade out of your life, and some you grow close to. Someday, you seem to forget how you got to know these friends. But if you think harder, you didn’t really forget totally, maybe just the details, still you will be able to recall bits and pieces of memories and realised how incredible friendship can be.

I got to know Julian and Sanjev when I was temping at PWC with my JC friend Xiuping, while waiting for our A levels result. I used to wonder why these two boys speak so softly. Well maybe I’m loud, that’s why I always seem like the only cranky one when I hang out with them. I guess opposites attract.

ben-jerrys.jpg

(L-R) Sanjev, Julian & me @Ben & Jerry’s!
Hey guys, as long as you don’t find me a noise pollution,
we’ll be BUDDIES!
:)

Did I mention that Julian is a chef? Yea a very sexy job. I think men who have good culinary skills are sexy. Ha! But I wonder if chefs are very critical with the food they eat on normal days? Hmm… I found out Julian falls under the critical category.

squid-ink.jpg

I thought this pasta was quite good, maybe I was hungry.
Ahem~ Julian thought can do much better.

GONG HEY FATT CHOY!! It’s the time of the year where we send off the pig and usher in the RAT! And friends coming back from all over the world~

Jean from Australia…

(L-R) Shawn, Kahyee, Tomney, Stella, Jean & Me.

While we were having a good time catching up and discussing the wedding procedures for Shawn-groom-to-be, someone was distracted, and the other played kay-poh…

Since the past “arcade days”, these IT kiddos never change~
Tom: No lah, I’m rushing my assignment!
KY: Eh… *siam*

Then Liping came back from the freezing Shanghai…

play-tourists.jpg

From Shanghai to Singapore, our cams never stop clicking. Ha!
And yes, it’s FOOD again…
We decided to play tourists AGAIN~

chinatown.jpg

It’s CNY, of course “tourists” will definitely visit the bustling Chinatown!

We found this really good dessert place, Mei Heong Yuen Dessert along Temple Street. Please must-try the yam cake, pumpkin cake, almond egg white dessert & egg pudding. They will melt your heart!!!

And of course my dadang is back again!

dashu-back-at-it.jpg

From lunch to dinner, dadang see your face so big!

But he comes home so often and calls me so frequently, that I don’t really have a chance to miss him. Hahahaa!! In fact, I miss his sweetie niece Violet sooooo much! She has grown very big, and still VERY CUTE.

violet-sweetie.jpg

Aiyo your silly kao fu torn your pampers!
Mui mui *wails*
Oh ok, yiyi sayng sayang…

Gatherings are very heart warming, where you receive gifts and get to biatch with your “gossip partner”…
