December 2007

Quite shocked that Zouk’s Wine Bar was not really packed on Christmas Eve… Where did everyone go to??!!

Well whatever it is, dolling up is important. We set a theme – red or green. So there I was, all dressed up like a xmas tree! Haa~

xmas-green.jpg

Have a GREEN Christmas!

What is a party without boozing and catching up with your loved ones? Of course, we must have poppers and whistles too! Wohoo!!

xmas-countdown.jpg

Pretty quiet WB, but our hearts filled with JOY…

Recently, I’m not exactly going through a very good time of my life. Plus during this festive period where everyone SHOULD be happy, yet realism can be quite depressing at times. Fortunately, I have you, you and you… YOU know who you are.

yo-and-ying.jpg

Jie Mei, thanks for your listening ear always.

my-men.jpg

The men who stood by me all these years.

triplets.jpg

How many Jie Meis do you have whom you can work with,
play with and go through thick & thin with in life?
Well at least I have two.

Kay: Hey Zhizhong, just marry Zhang Ying lah.
Zhong: *sincere look & nodded*  Hm ok.
Ying: Ohhh… *so touched*

zhong-ying.jpg

Hey I knew you are my TRUE friend man. :)

I’m always very lucky to have very fun colleagues around me. And there’s this one who sits behind me… Travis. Though he’s “UGLY”, but he’s r-e-a-l-l-y kind-hearted, hahahaa~~

ugly.jpg

Only Theresa & I can stand the “Ugly Doll”, Travis Gan! ^_^

We had a potluck session after our half day’s work on Christmas Eve. I made my signature dish, potato salad! And there were yummy clam chowder, desserts like mango sago & I had almond cream, and sweet Sylvia turned into a bartender, made us great mojito!

fun-work.jpg

Drunk in laughter and happiness… :)

Few days ago I just told my Mum I miss making and eating those hand-made tang yuan, craving… So this morning I decided to knead the dough!

handmade-tangyuan.jpg

Delicious but high in calories. Eat and work it out.
冬至快乐!

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, my family decided to celebrate Christmas in advance. My sister’s boyfriend Steven is a very good chef, he makes fabulous curry chicken, tiramisu and his “new trick” – waffles! Check out the chef at work.

waffle-chef.jpg

Hey Steven, learn more “new tricks” hor,
I don’t mind being your “guinea pig”… Heh~

its-mine.jpg

Strawberry ice cream is good,
but chocolate flavour is better with waffle.

my-gems.jpg

See, even my sweetie pie niece Amerlyn says:
The waffle is finger-licking GOOD!

Christmas is a joyous season to shower your dear ones around you with love and gifts. Of course I got my share…

love-pressies.jpg

Spa set from sister, Care Bears towel & Esprit notebook from Steven
and limited edition Absolut Disco from my dear cousin Marcus!

I know now Facebook is very IN, but I refused to be part of it. Actually I’m just lazy. So I still stick to Friendster, And it was Friendster that made me realised how small this world, or rather Singapore is. You never know who is whose friend, so better watch your 言行举止.

Presenting to you my ex colleague-cum-friend (& gia) Jeff and my friend-cum-maid YY (hahaa!!!), the two of them have been busy with a series of Christmas shows in Sun Plaza, so I dropped by to ra-ra for my 朋友 & 朋友的朋友…

friends-friend.jpg

Happy together. Lalala~~

On Saturday night, I met Cindy and David. The three of us have one thing in common. We left the radio station, one after another. But of course, there are lots of fun memories that we shared together, and we have much to catch up whenever we gather.

reunion.jpg

I tell you, this guy here is GOOD in self-photo taking. Hiao!

I got to know this couple when I was doing the Xun FUN Zuo Le segment for my radio show with da dang Jiayi, they were two of the listeners who participated in a high tea activity at a Taiwanese cafe.

Gavin proposed to Jerene over my radio show. It was Jiayi and my FIRST proposal “mission” on air.

22 December 2007, this sweet couple got married. So happy for them…

love-by-the-sea.jpg

Love by the sea. Happiness in the air.

Something ridiculous happened. The solemniser was late for half an hour, and he got the sequence of the solemnisation ceremony wrongly – he pronounced the couple as man and wife even before they and the witnesses signed on the papers. Gosh, maybe you want to avoid engaging this fella (Mr. Pang) if you’re planning your R.O.M. Duh~

latecomer.jpg

Nevertheless, it was a happy occasion. :)

CONGRATS, Gavin & Jerene!

This Friday night, the current student Tomney and the potential students Youyi and myself gathered for a simple dinner. I brought them to this newly opened restaurant along Citilink, Shokudo that sells Japanese fusion-style pasta and pizza, and pretty good desserts.

I observed this corner where Shokudo sits is quite a jinx spot, the restaurants (also Japanese) located here previously shuts down one after another. Hopefully Shokudo can make a difference, choy choy choy… *touch wood*

shokudo.jpg

(L) Yummy thin crust Japanese pizza.
(R) Healthy tuna & avocado salad.
(Centre) Special red bean ice dessert with mochi & chestnut.

The no life student Tomney told me that the Christmas tree we saw indoors of Citilink was the first he saw this Christmas, I nearly fainted. Gosh what a sua gu gia. Luckily on the same night we saw another two, and this one outside Raffles City is really beautiful.

Ying: Tom look! Christmas tree…
Tom: Ya ya… Finally!
Ying:

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Ho ho ho~

Yea it’s a public holiday today! When there’s a holiday within the week, your mood just gets better. It’s anticipation for the break that makes you feel happier at work… Ha in fact from Monday onwards, I’ve been thinking of today, actually my mind has already stretched to Christmas and even New Year! Such a joyful festive period, where got mood to work?! :)

This morning my Mum was just telling me about this “Popular” Book Fair at Suntec Convention Centre that she has visited with my Dad yesterday, saying there was very few people.

Mum: Aiyo you youngsters don’t read books nowadays…
Ying: Why leh?
Mum: So few people at that book fair. Don’t know where the crowd went to?
Ying: (while eating my brunch, still feeling abit drowsy after a late hang-out the night before) St James lor. The queue was SUPER long!
Mum: *shakes head* …

Ya man, think because today is a public holiday, it was really packed at St James – Power House & Dragonfly. My 2nd visit.

st-james-ladies-nite.jpg

Hmm I kinda miss Kay (who’s travelling in China now)…

I was so happy to see my bestie who came back from Melbourne! Check out the chio bu-s ar… Haha

My bestie Jamie since PRIMARY TWO! Gosh.

Of course drinks is a must when we party. Yohooo!~~

Don’t wana get drunk? Then don’t mix your drinks.

Power House Ladies Nite has lots of perks – free entry, 5 housepours, and got freebies like samples of Maybeline foundation & 2-way powder some more. WOW! We had supper at Ding Tai Feng again. New discovery, the mutarbak is not bad and cheese prata BAGUS!

Today I slept till very late and decided to stay home and nua. Cool weather, shiok. Then, at night I attended a function with my parents at Mandarin Hotel. 8-course dinner, hmm nothing really surprised my taste bud, except this red bean soup with tang yuan.

tang-yuan.jpg

1 tang yuan = 1 year old.
So I only ate ONE.

This Saturday is Yuan Xiao Jie, so don’t forget to eat the yummy glutinous rice balls (tang yuan). This dessert is not like super nice, maybe I was just craving for something sweet^^

He has big eyes. Very handsome. He shakes his bom bom. And starting to yak…

cutie-matz.jpg

I love to see him smile~ My dear nephew, Matz!

Last Friday, about 10 days before Christmas, I’ve already received my 1st Christmas gift. A mug that writes ” Superstar”!

xmas-exchange.jpg

Lovely dinner with comrades of JC days.
Much anticipated X’mas gift exchange.
A gift for all!

Food again. There’s this Japanese restaurant Hanabi at Odeon Tower that serves pretty decent buffet. Now they have this promotion, if you order its buffet (about $30++), you either get a lobster salad or crab in hot soup for free!

jap-buffet.jpg

Free flow of sashimi, sushi, tempura, udon, teppanyaki etc…

During this festive period, there are lots of sale, promotions, gift ideas and blah. MOS Burger came up with a collection of cartoon handphone accessories. Usually I don’t buy such stuffs from fast food outlets, but these two caught my eyes!

burger-tomato.jpg

I call them 汉堡仔 & 番茄妞!

I’ve been busy with adapting a new stage of my life, will update you guys once things are more settled.

End of the year always set me thinking. Self reflection, past memories, lessons learnt, future plans… It’s also the best time for reunions, meeting and catching up with your dear ones. Reunion can come as planned, and also as a sweet surprise. Coincidentally last Tuesday, I met my Secondary school principal Miss Heng at Odeon Tower’s car park! I gave a her a big hug and took a photo with her, I hope it didn’t come as a shock to her, gosh I was too excited.

ms-heng-i.jpg

Thank you Miss Heng. You’ve been a wonderful principal.

I used to think that colleagues can never be friends, until I met this bunch. They are one of the greatest gifts of my career in 883JiaFM…

fishy-reunion.jpg

如果没有你们,日子怎么过?~~
By the way, this X’mas cake from TCC is quite yummy. Heh.

And of course, the best “da dangs” (partners) combine powers again! Jiayi came back to Singapore for a few days and with him around, there will sure to be lots of laughter, funny poses and saliva. Hahaa!!

dadang-forever.jpg

JY & ZY: Yeah!
Shihan: Duh. They are at it again.
(”)***

Oh ya and whenever the “da dangs” combine powers, we will EAT non-stop.

man-boy.jpg

JY: Don’t think you are very “shuai” hor.
Ian boy (R): At least I’m 1* years younger than you! (Oops)
ZY: Haiz, man vs. boy battle. I stick to my claypot yam & chicken.

This authentic Hainanese coffee shop located along Purvis Street serves very delicious Hainanese pork chop, and Jiayi told me the buns are freshly baked, best to eat with kaya. Woo! Oh divert abit, before dinner I went to do hair treatment and got my hair blown straight, got me kinda miss my rebonded hair.

my-straight-hair.jpg

Hm~ Straight of Curly??

Another happy reunion was held on Saturday – KTV session, where we sang our hearts out, especially Youyi and Jiafa. Their “Wu Yan De Jie Ju” is classic. :) And Youyi was so sweet to have prepared X’mas gifts for eveyone! Hand-made de wor…

xmas-ktv.jpg

Chocs & Cane Candies for a naughty Christmas!

After that we had Korean food for dinner. I must recommend this Korean restaurant located on the 5th floor of HEEREN, it serves very good Ginseng Chicken Soup and the set meals are really value for money.

korean-yummy.jpg

Must try: Pomelo Tea, Ginseng Chicken Soup and Kimchi!

You know there’s a kinda affection in this world that is really sweet and close to heart. Sister love. 姐姐妹妹站起来!!!

Sister love bond by blood, faith and care.

shining-sisters.jpg

5 years of age difference is not a gap
but a bridge, to many good things in life…

And, sister love bond by great times and bad.

jie-meis.jpg

The more we get together,
we grow to look more & more alike. Somehow. Hahaa~

I went to support 883JiaFM Campus Reporter 2007 finals @ IMM last Saturday, and was thrilled to see my dearest “Jie Meis”! Then, Youyi and I proceeded to some sinful pampering acts…

ben-jerry.jpg

Ben & Jerry ICE CREAM!!! *moooo*

We wanted to avoid the ZoukOut crowd who were heading Sentosa, thinking that Zouk should be quiet so not fun and MOS had a free entry for all students kinda perk (eh dun really wana hang out with the young crowd and make us feel OLD!), we decided to check out St James. But the stoopid thing is that St James is very near Sentosa, so poor Kay got stuck in a traffic jam for half an hour! Finally we re-united.

sj-fabulous-ladies.jpg

The fabulous three. :)

The drinks at Power House is goooood… Or rather this bartender Amos there makes really good drinks, and he was very kind to help us take photo!

sj-at-the-bar.jpg

Yuuuuuuum SENG!

Then, Ah Hock joined the gals.

sj-fun-times.jpg

Wah Ah Hock, you very “hock kee” leh!
Got three “chio bu-s” go clubbing with you sia…
Ah Hock: *PUKES*

Have you been sulking your way to work? Then you haven’t tune in to the best bilingual morning radio show Good Morning! on 883JiaFM Mondays to Fridays 7-10am.

sj-good-morning-pals.jpg

Wah “heng ah” tomorrow Sunday, don’t have to wake up early…
Kay: Huh, who called me? (her surname is Heng. Boliao heh.)

At 4am, we were tired and HUNGRY. Nothing beats the charm of FOOD. I saw wantons grinning at me and noodles smiling…

sj-supper.jpg

Maybe it was hunger that got us cranky…
Actually it was becos this wierd guy kept staring at us. *yucks*
